Mio Technology has developed a new GPS navigation system called Mio Hammer V700

Mio Technology has developed a new GPS navigation system called Mio Hammer V700. It will be available starting on the 12th of this month and comes with the longest windshield mount weve ever seen so you wont have to stretch too far.

Mio Hammer V700 has a 7 screen, a stylish high quality black frame that only measures 16mm thick.

The giant 7 display can provide 800×480 pixel resolution with 16:9 aspect ratio and can play various multimedia content such as audio and video. It has a GPS receiver that can track 64 satellites at once and can get traffic updates with the TPEG receiver.

4GB version will cost 329,000KRW ($285), and the 12GB version (4GB + 8GB external) will go for 359,000 KRW($310). Yeah, sorry. We don’t think this is coming to U.S. anytime soon.

Acer A1 touchscreen Android phone to arrive in September?

Acer A1 touchscreen Android phone to arrive in September?
Its unsourced, but we re hearing today that Acer first Android phone will be called the A1 and arrive in September. Thats at least the word according to the Phillipine BusinessMirror, and it lines up nicely with our peek inside Acer secret roadmap diary at MWC. The touchscreen A1 will apparently launch alongside three other handsets, one of which were guessing is the mysterious white C1 pictured above. Well see how it goes -- hopefully Acer's second effort is a lot more interesting than its first round of ho-hum WinMo phones.

Google Android kill switch removes phone apps

Months after Apple sparked uproar for building a 'kill switch' into its iPhone software, it has emerged that Google Android also includes a feature which allows the company to remotely remove applications from smartphones based on its platform.

According to Google's Android Market terms of service, "Google may discover a product that violates the developer distribution agreement... in such an instance, Google retains the right to remotely remove those applications from your device at its sole discretion."

That item is one of a few hints of things to come in the 'About phone' section of the device, which also alludes to some hitherto unknown people and companies that were instrumental in developing the software.

The G1, the first phone to run the Android software developed by Google, is expected to hit the UK on October 30, and many people are getting their first in-depth look at it because T-Mobile has loaned the devices to reporters. The Android Market is the online store accessible from the phone where users can download applications.

Android users might be more receptive to Google's remote kill switch than iPhone users were to Apple's for a couple of reasons. First, Google is being upfront about it. Apple didn't confirm the capability for the iPhone until days after a developer discovered it.

In addition, Google says that if it does remotely remove an application, it will try to get users their money back, a question that iPhone users have wondered about in the case of an iPhone application recall. Google said that it will make "reasonable efforts to recover the purchase price of the product... from the original developer on your behalf."

If Google fails to get the full amount back, it will divide what it gets among affected users.

Google may have more need to use a kill switch than Apple. That's because Apple vets applications before putting them into its Apps Store. Anything goes in Google's Android Market, opening the chances of malicious or otherwise unwanted applications appearing in the market.

The Android Market business and program policies also include an item that says users can return any application for a full refund within 24 hours of the time of purchase. In the absence of a trial version of applications, this offer will let users return an application that might not deliver exactly what they expected.

Android Market users can also reinstall as many times as they wish an application that they buy, another useful feature in case a phone fails. For now, all applications in the market are free because Google hasn't yet set up the mechanisms to allow developers to offer them for purchase.

Android coming to the HTC Touch HD?

Two unrelated sources tipped off PhoneDog stating that T-Mobile is already prepping a version of HTCs Touch HD to be their next Android-powered handset. Many Android Community members have expressed their wishes for the HTC Touch HD to become an Android-powered device.

While one of the sources is a tipster that likes to pass along anything interesting they may hear, the other apparently has a pretty decent track record when it comes to leaking upcoming handset information accurately. Neither of the sources are part of HTC or T-Mobile.

The HTC Touch HD, not be confused with the HTC Touch Pro, has specs similar to the G1. The Touch HD would make a perfect Android-powered handset to compete with the leading phones in the US. The Touch HD is most noted for having a large display that beats even the iPhone 3G. Boasting a large 3.8-inch TFT-LCD flat touch-sensitive screen with 480 x 800 WVGA resolution, this phone is easily one of the best to look at. However HTC today revealed that they would not be bringing the Touch HD to the US, as it lacks US-spec 3G and they feel the device would be outdated by the time it could be re-engineered.

New PDA phone - HTC T8290 with WiMAX Support

Clearly, Taiwanese mobile manufacturer HTC is having an excellent year. After bringing the HTC Diamond to users out there, it moved directly to making the first Google Android phone, the G1 for T-Mobile. Now, recently leaked information has it that HTC is working on a HTC T8290 phone that, apparently, supports not only GSM but also WiMAX.

This is now the latest, hottest, and most debated topic regarding mobile phones, and tidbits of information and some pictures of the HTC T8290 have already leaked. The new device is designed to allow even more wireless Internet access, thus complying with the current trend in the mobile industry, imposed by all the phones that are destined to be high-end and that provide, one way or another, broadband Internet access and advanced browsing functionalities.

> WiMAX is a telecommunications technology that is designed to provide wireless data transmission in a variety of ways, from point to point links to full mobile Internet access. It allows for broadband speed without the need of cables, which is an essential aspect for mobiles if we come to think of it. Thus, WiMAX is a reliable alternative to cable and DSL connections and, as far as mobile phones go, a great alternative in the absence of 3G.

The HTC T8290 is apparently designed for the Russian WiMAX operator Yota. Since Russia has no 3G coverage, users can benefit from broadband Internet by using this device.

The specs for the phone include a 3.8" 800×480 WVGA LCD, 802.11g WiFi and Bluetooth 2.0. Unfortunately, this is all the info available for the time being. Considering that the handset is supposedly almost official, since it has been presented at the WiMAX World Conference in Chicago, all the specs, along with a price and release date, should be made public soon. However, just like in all the cases when we have to deal with rumors and leaked information, we'll just have to wait and see.
